. ubud: dining galore .

Here’s a list of some of our favourite places to dine at Ubud, Bali!

Cafe Angsa
Jl Hanoman 43, Ubud, Bali, Indonesia

Located just a stone’s throw away from our guesthouse, Cafe Angsa is a little hidden gem that overlooks a small paddy field thus giving diners the opportunity to dine with a view. In fact, we were so comfortable on the day bed that the boy actually caught a wink right at the restaurant after a hearty meal! Now, that’s what we call La Dolce Vita (the sweet life).

Bebek Bengil ( Dirty Duck Diner )
Jln. HanomanPadang Tegal, Ubud, Bali.

Know for its signature Crispy Duck, Bebek Bengil is definitely 1 of the top places to visit for a uniquely Balinese culinary experience. Basically, the duck is steamed with a myriad of spices before being deep-fried to produce a very crispy and (almost) meatless duck. Not exactly my cup of tea as I prefer my meal with more meat but the boy loved it so much that he devoured half the duck within minutes! Loved the yummy mocktails! The view is simply breath-taking – Scenic stretches of padi fields, beautiful tropical gardens with ponds, Balinese pavilions … It is a little piece of tropical paradise! 🙂

Ibu Oka Babi Guling
Jl Suweta (across Puri Saren, the Palace), Ubud Bali, Indonesia

Ignore the basic diner setting and you will find yourself in 1 of the most popular and well-raved about restaurant in Ubud. I’m not usually a fan of pork but I must confess that the roasted pig served at Ibu Oka is absolutely succulent and tender, with a good amount of herbs & spices thrown in to add to the aroma. Do try the Babi Guling special set that also comes with innards & crackling.  It’s finger-lickin’ good! 🙂 A MUST try for anyone who visits Ubud!

Mingle Cafe
Jalan Dewi Sita, Ubud, Bali 80571, Indonesia

We decided to have our last dinner in Ubud at Mingle Cafe as it was then rated the #3 restaurant on Tripadvisor. True to its reviews, Mingle serves brilliant and savory food (try the Balinese tapas and spring rolls) at very reasonable prices. A pity that I didn’t get to try its famed cocktails as I’m generally not a fan of alcoholic drinks. For those of you who would like to relax and watch the world go by, do ask for a seat at the lovely terrace on the 2nd level that overlooks the street. Serves all-day breakfast too!
