. The Life that I Ordered .

All over, all around. 1 Night, 2 new acquaintances ( from Germany & Indo) , 5 gals up against the ever accommodating Eugene … all happening at the lame/cheesy-soundly Bao Today diner ( can’t they just call it Justice Bao restaurant?). Indulged in ( non-authentic) Taiwanese delights at the new Xin Wang Taiwan cafe with 1 of my favorite girl clique. Almost a double date, yet not a date – Brewerkz with Sam, Jo & Koey … where I, unfortunately, didn’t try the famous Brewerkz beer. Beer, never ever my cup of tea … too bitter for my liking, gives one a pot belly too. Timbre@Old School with Clara … what a long, treacherous hike up to Mt. Sophia. Never fails to leave me panting at the end, which simply means that it’s seriously time to build up my stamina! Went ga-ga over cheap sushi with Chantelle @ Nihon Mura (99cents/plate. service – poorer than average ) & despite having the night to ourselves, we still have SO MUCH to talk about. Next up, how about pulling an all-nighter? Followed by clubbing @ DBL O with MK baby, Clara, Nelson and Clara’s pals. Honestly, I think the crowd has all flocked to Butter lol. Finally, dinner with Shermin, Felicia, Liz at the charming & quaint Fosters, followed by desserts at the Mediterranean restaurant, Mykii to satisfy our sweet cravings.

And so far, this is where a huge chunk of my $$$ goes to, ever since I started work. You tell me. Spender or Saver?

Size doesn’t matter. @ Timbre, where I finished only 1 glass of frozen mango daiquiri whereas pint-sized Clara downed 5 pints of beer continuously. Blame it on my lack of tolerance for alcohol.

Put 2 talkative girls together and you’ll see that we can never do dinner as we will be spending the bulk of our time chatting non-stop instead of eating.

The fun-loving & comical couple who made me fall in love with retro & mambo !  I’d never see mambo/retro music the same way again though I know that a few of my friends who would probably roll their eyes at that comment. Come back soon, babe …  If not for me, then for your “Mr. Strong”  ;p  //003//.

Fosters – An English Rose Cafe. The one restaurant that I wanted to visit since I first laid my eyes on it ( many yrs ago). The ambience is certainly the highlight – A great place for couples, friends & family alike to dine at. The perfect English cafe that it is, it’s easy to forget that you’re in Singapore once you step foot into Fosters … dimly-lighted candles, flora, fauna surrounds you. This cozy diner is also a gem for those who enjoy their meals, while listening to the singer belting out popular hits and ballads.

Food-wise, nothing out of the extraordinary but nevertheless, tasty enough to warrant a return trip   A must-visit, especially for couples who want to steal away some romantic moments for themselves ( take the outdoor seats at the al fresco area ).

An array of enticing desserts at Mykii ( White, pristine decor that’s influenced by Mykonos in Greece)  – Try the signature Granny smith apple & aloe crumble ( comes with a layer of delicious cookie crumble), The Lava ( hot motlen chocolate cake with a generous scoop of ice-cream on the top and strawberries at the base) & Cherry Jubilee Tart (so-so).

- Officially graduated !
- Adopted our first puppy together … Welcoming Archie into our lives !
- Found a good-paying first job !
- Traveled to Batam & Bangkok
- Completed an internship with ZCP & got a glimpse into the world of stage productions
- Spent more time with family
- Had to pull out from traveling plans to China & Laos ( unfortunately =(  )
- Failed to clean and convert the study room into my own room

Plans to come

- Get started on driving ( Procrastinate! even my younger sis beat me to the punch and shes 3yrs my junior. )
- Exercise. Maybe, start by joining dance classes ( Procrastinate! )
- Halloween Party ( Cherlynn, the party host !)
- Tattoo.
- Basic Obedience Class for Archie
- Cable-Ski … gals, are we still up for it ?
- Read up more on investments ( Need Help! )
- Definitely, more traveling !!! ( If only i can take leave … )

. Graduated !!! .

SIM/UB Commencement

Such a common sight to see many graduates blogging about their commencement at this time of the year. Likewise, I’m officially done with school ( Till I get my Masters. That’s even if I do). Yay!!! After the 3yrs of uni life ( project conflicts & lame excuses from some project mates, waking up early in the wee morning to cramp last-min revision ( Jocelyn! ), politics with some assholes, exchange semester in UB, ODAC activities, attempt-but-failed Salsa classes), I finally graduated with a Magna Cum Laude and did myself proud ( feels great, especially when I totally screwed my A levels ). Now, on to the next phase – Work. Finally, Congrats to everyone for graduating from UB ! To Cherlynn & Koey, just 1 more semester to go and u guys are done with it too… though, u gotta wait till 2010 to wear the graduation gown and motar-board!  Too bad! =P

The commencement was well, honestly not that exciting. The usual speeches & more speeches. Similar to prom night, the highlight of the event was probably to be dressed in our graduation gown and to see our fellow friends all dressed the same. It was hilarious seeing our Dean, professors, etc to be dressed in the same ‘formal’ attire too, almost seems as if we were coming out from the movie set of ‘Harry Potter’ lol! A pictorial-based entry as I know Im not gonna be uploading the pics on facebook, so friends … just “steal” the pics for your convenience. Heck, I was sooo busy finding pple and taking pics that I didn’t even had the chance to savor the food at the buffet =(  Any of you did? Fortunately, it’s FOC for us. If not, it’s gonna be such a waste of $ lol.

What Ann said was really true. What we take away more than any other thing from SIM, are the close friendships created during the course of our study. Many thanks to all of you here ( plus, Cherie + Eil + Krys … Where were u guys?? ) for always being by my side & for being my buds =)

Haha, my favourite man … MK love! Your convo wouldn’t be till end of next yr or early 2011, long wait to go! :p It’s a promise though, I’ll attend yours … make sure u dont skip it, like u did in poly eh!

Lastly, of course with my beloved family ( Gin missing in action ) for seeing me through everything =)  Thank You! Waiting for Gin to graduate next yr from poly before we take a family “graduation” studio shoot together!

18 months celebration
A moment to reminisce

It’s been quite a while since MK & me had gone for the usual dinner/movie date. In our attempt to save $, as well as spend more time with Archie, our time spent together usually consist of bumming around at my place. As much as it boils down to enjoying each other’s company, it however adds more romance to our love life with the occasional dinner/movie/adventurous dates so boy, were we both looking forward to a 1yr 6 mths quiet celebration.

Caught the highly-anticipated blockbuster “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” ( IMO, awesome for all its action aficionados but lacks of creating a punch/climax to the plot ) prior to dinner. Tea Cozy ( formerly at Electric Attic. Now, at Ten Thousand Angels ) brought back many fond memories for both MK & me. After all, it’s the cozy lil’ diner that we finally settled at for dinner, on our first date. In our attempt to bring back the memories that we had for our first date, we thus decided to head once again to Tea Cozy. Ten Thousand Angels is a quaint shop that sells an assortment of angels and it’s a great shopping paradise for those who either hope to achieve a European interior design for their homes or have a collection of angels/fairies. The latest addition to the collection of gifts I have received from MK baby. A couple tea-cup set ( so cheesy though!), that comes along with 2 boxes of Twinings tea. A perfect gift for someone who is big on English tea =)

Things are never the same again, ever since Archie entered into our lives. Gone are the days where we had the freedom to do anything we want as a couple “couple-hood”. Now that we have Archie to care for, our lives pretty much revolve around him, “parent-hood”. So many plans that we have for him … Obedience training class, “family” outings to a pet-friendly cafe or better still, a pet cafe where pooches will be treated to gourmet pet dishes, doggy outings/events! Unfortunately, neither of us drive ( darn! Why didn’t I take up driving 4yrs back?!? ) so that’s gonna be a challenge.

As you can probably see from the pics, it’s extremely difficult to capture a clear shot of Archie. Especially so, when our active boy is always moving and on-the-go! It just hit upon me that we have yet to take a single pic with Archie … it’s always taking pics of him, but never with him. Presenting a collage of our favourite candid, posed and family shots!

Going gaga over Korean & Japanese food over the weekends

A taste of both Korean + Japanese over the weekends. There’s nothing else that I  ♥ than to dine at a restaurant and chat/gossip with friends for hours & hours. Im really good at that though; self-proclaimed queen of staying in a restaurant for hours till they finally chase us out cz they need to close. Sounds so cheapskate! First up was at Su Korean ( my fav korean restaurant, thanks to Chantelle’s influence ) with Christine darling on Friday. Haha, we even discussed about screwing up the whole ‘practical’ thing and taking up less common but interesting jobs such as an air-traffic controller ( for her) and zoo-keeper ( for me).

It was going ‘Japanese’ the next day with Koey at Waraku, Marine Square. So coincidental! Turns out that we both registered for a volunteer/travel program with the same agency in Vietnam. My initial plan was to head over to Vietnam to volunteer at a kids orphanage and explore the beautiful country, following my trip to Bangkok. However, due to some changes, I had to cancel my plans. Who would have known that Koey had the exact plan in mind too?!? Only difference, he’s definitely going ahead with his plans whereas fickle-minded me had to cancel mine and start having some regrets.

Courtesy of Cozycot and also, much thanks to Juliet for telling me about this event. Honestly, finance talk usually bore me to tears as the jargons and terms used are very foreign to me. And more often than not, Im usually left confused at the end of the talk. Unfortunately, you and i know that being a saver is not sufficient in today’s society. With inflation on the rise, our currency loses its initial value over time and that’s when investments come in to beat inflation. Being an idiot when it comes to finance, I gotta admit that Im still very clueless when it comes to the different types of investments. The session was quite informative, to say the least. Figured out that Ive a low tolerence for risk when it comes to investments & money … so just need to do my ‘homework’ & research on the suitable investments before plunging into it.

There was also a skincare talk ( by SK II), on top of the trading talks. Not surprisingly, it was a talk that placed huge emphasis in promoting their SK II facial treatment essence, aka “Miracle Water”. Said to contain Pitera, the treatment essence aims to  boost the skin to its optimal condition by balancing the skin’s PH. Haha, I never thought that I would fall for such marketing gimmicks but being a sucker for skincare products ( victim of multiple skin problems – visible pores, clogged pores, uneven skin tones, etc ), I decided to read up on some reviews and found the product to be quite well-recommended. Not surprisingly, that comes with a hefty price tag too.

As with all events, everyone looks forward to collecting their goodie bags. Goodie bag comes with $20 voucher ( for some trading account), SK II consultation and skincare product and a bottle of wine from South Africa! One of the best, if not the best, goodie bag that I have ever received from attending an event!  =)   Will try out the SKII  ‘miracle water’ sample and write a review on it soon.
