Thursday Night
.Happy 20th Birthday, Sachi.
Surprise for Sachi !!! as planned by her gf, Kana !

Friday

Truly enough, the last cookout with delicious hotdogs before winter sets in. And believe it or no, it gets as cold as 0 degrees (or probably colder) and sunlights are hard to come by too :(

Halloween Hayride at Becker FarmCelebrating a night of fright & fun in a family-oriented tradition. Enter at your own risk, but never alone. You might just find yourself returning with a new found friend. Eerie and spooky encounters as we make a date with the unknown ( Vampires, Pirate, Hillibillies, Witches, etc) deep into the Becker Farms forest. Venturing into the Haunted Forest on a farm tractor … it’s something that we’ll never ever get the chance to experience in a city area. But first, we gotta tackle the challenge of entering the Castle Labyrinth and find our way out ALIVE … escaping the evils of unsuspecting monsters and creatures.

.Be Frighten, Be Afraid.

Anyone up for Dress up time? And we came home only to see all our Japanese friends dressed up in their halloween gears – sexy, sultry, cute, cross-dress, funny, scary …. they got it all. Everyone’s so sporting, enthusastic and feeling the fullness of the halloween energy.

Not all devils are scary, there can be sexy ones too!

Best friends Tomoka and Risako looking all HOT IN RED.

Ever gorgeous Risako looking all babelicious (and I mean, REALLY babelicious) in her adorable lady beetle bug outfit.

Boo. Did he scare you?

Marilyn Monroe?

Ready for some action?
Bernice with Yuta, who’s dressed as the policewoman who’s all ready for some fun & action. 5-inch killer heels and handcuffs included.

Kana as “Keira Knightley from Pirates of the Carribbean” and Sachi as the “Darn Sexy Devil” .

Couldn’t help but to give it a shot to don The Mask. Frankly, I have NO idea how kohei can keep that mask in his room. I would be having nightmares all the time man and with my wild imagination, I can totally imagine The Mask coming to “life” and creeping around my room.

Pumpkin Carving Contest

Alas, there wasn’t enough pumpkins to go about :(   and so, we had to settle with making ‘Halloween’ cards for lil’ kids! All designs created from scratch by yours truly :p  lol.

… To end of semester …

“Honeymoon Capital of the World”
And, that’s where MK baby and I are gonna be celebrating my 21st Birthday at. So happens that it coincides with the “Winter Festival of Lights” – perfect timing, perfect place, perfect occasion. Could I ask for a more romantic way to celebrate my 21st?

Hold your breath and be awed by the falls in its illuminated wintry glory!

Other sights that we would like to visit before we join the family for some winter fun in the mountains

Always the case of a gazillion activities and so little time. Let’s count down together, baby love.

Just came back from ‘Sex in The Lounge’ … Yea, it was.. let’s put it … an amazing experience :p
Haha, but seriously – it was enriching to say the least. Got to learn abit more about the effects of STD. And it’s true that people here tend to be more open regarding such topics.

This week hasn’t been exactly that good for me. Nothing bad-ass happened, it’s just all self-inflicted. Times whereby I feel that Im losing my head… losing touch with my self-identity. That somehow, I want to declutter, detox and re-organise my priorities in life. To do something that feeds my soul instead of following the norms that are expected of us.

With much time at hand, I’ve been reading up alot on ‘The Simple Life’ genre of blogs. Reading such blogs provide me with the opportunity to escape from being bogged down by the many commitments and relect upon contentment within simplicity that these people have managed to achieve. A cheap and nice ‘getaway’ when I can’t afford to travel overseas.

If you’re interested, here’s some links for your reading pleasure.

I want! I want! I want!

A teddy-bear hug from The Guy!!!
A Kiss from him.

A beautiful garden with flowers, vegetables and herbs.

Not always having to follow the crowd or feeling the need to conform to societal expectations.

To wake up in the morning and be greeted with a scenic sight.

Some puppy loving when the right time comes. (financial stability first!)

Doing what that made my JC life so colourful and meaningful. Take time out to volunteer.

I guess this is one that’s on everyone’s list. Travel around the globe.

Exercise. Baby promised me that he will be my personal trainer. Tone up, tone up!

Im materialistic to some extent and like many girls, I have a weakness for designer bags. My ultimate love? Balenciaga.

I might receive teasing from this but I wanna ”Walk down the aisle” . Well yes again, when the time is right.

” Spotted at Letchworth State Park, our ladies C and S with 2 new friends enjoying the sights and sounds of Fall. Sources say the ladies shivered in the cold until they met their new friends who joined them and helped them along the hike, taking hundreds of pictures on the way.
We hear LSP is the Grand Canyon of the East. Did our ladies have fun? From the looks of it, they sure did!

It’s snowing! It’s snowing …
Wanna give you a kiss as the first snowflake touched my nose.
.
.

Winter is approaching …
The day is getting shorter as nightfall approaches faster ….
All that greets you early morning is the grey & gloomy sky …
It’s only mid-Oct and already, the temperature is a cold 2°C .

Makes me wonder how the subsequent 2 months are going to be like for me.

Happy 22nd Birthday,MK !!!

October 17, 2008 · 3 Comments

Been almost exactly a year since our paths crossed.

“Love at First Sight” ? Of course not (im a skeptic of that!), but there was definitely something special that I felt when I first laid my eyes on you. The night could have just ended at that - nothing but a night of wild fun and dancing. And it almost seemed like it was going down that path for us … a month of no contact. But nope, fate (or destiny or whatever you call it) has other plans for us and thanks to our lovely match-makers (special mentions: O and C ), we re-acquainted and started off on a fabulously fantastic note.

The “butterflies in the stomach” feelings that I experienced when you first held my hands. The sadness that I felt when I had to leave for a vacation in Egypt after our 3rd date. The anticipation that we both felt when we started long-distance smsing despite the fact that we were 13hours away from each other. And the hefty price to pay for auto-roaming sms (on my part). The first kiss that sent chills down my spine. How you stayed up almost the whole night and bombarded me with calls and sms-es to make sure everything was okay with me on 1 particular night. Finally, how you got me falling real hard for you at the Flowers Festival. It’s all coming back to me vividly now.

Coming into this exchange programme, everyone tells me that “Absence makes the heart grows fonder”. I know how tough it must be for the other party to have to go through this – for life’s as routined as usual. Being more than half-way through this, it has did nothing but strengthen our relationship more than ever. The best gift that we can give each other is ‘trust’ and ‘faith’. I couldn’t ask for more. It’s love.

I’m sorry that I can’t be there physically to celebrate your birthday  :(   But hey, I made sure that I had the presents ‘express mailed’ to your place and stop your misery of having to wait for another 2 more dreadful months. Bingo! I got u fooled too  :p

Happy 22nd Birthday, my boy  :)

A final surprise awaits you!

.what does the future holds? recession!!

.A Perfect Day.

Brilliant smells of Fall time
Light breeze that seeps in through the windows
The start of yet another perfect day.

Come Sat, there’ll be more of such breath-taking fall foliage when we visit Letchworth State Park :)

Went for the “Should I go to Grad School” talk with Cher babe earlier this week. Personally, I feel like I need a break … a break from this momentum of academic pursuit in order to prevent burnout and explore other opportunities. Will probably pursue a post-graduate degree only after Im more settled in my career.

In any case, I was in quite a dilemma for the past couple of weeks. On one hand, I was toying with the idea of extending my stay here for Spring Semester and was hence, looking into the possibility of committing to an internship here. Pros: Extend my time in UB. Overseas working experience. Im not quite willing to wake up from this ‘dream’ of mine. What’s there more to say? Cons: Expensive! And with the impending recession and financial crisis, I doubt that it would be a very wise choice. Winter here is insane. On another hand, the idea of participating in the Disney College Program came cross my mind too. That would be something FUN! Work ( yes, we’ll be paid). Travel. And we get to attend interactive courses that teach us more about how Walt Disney “operates in key areas” – marketing/hospitality/people management. Pros: It’s Disney. Need me say more? Befriend more people from around the globe. Cons: The jobs offered are labour-intensive – merchandise, custodial, operations, etc and well,  basically job experiences that ain’t exactly that relevant to the career options that Im looking at.  :(

I wish … I wish.. I could jump into this opportunity and forget about ‘being practical’. And finally, the option of returning home to complete my last marketing module and hopfully, either find an internship or some form of work to earn some cash. Frankly, the last option sounds good too cz it gives me more choices to pursue other interests. How great – Im gonna graduate in the midst of a recession!!! Definitely not something that anyone will look forward to.

MK is off to celebrate his birthday with his buds tonight. Club & PARTY your night away, love! :)   Im jealous, I’ve been listening to too many club/hip-hop music lately… I feel deprived.  :(   Promise me that we’ll hit the clubs together when Im back.

.did i mentioned that i love my wkends?.

Friday

A nice lunch with a new friend- Nicole- who’s a transfer student from UMich and who so happens come from Singapore too! It’s amazing to see how fast we both ‘clicked’ – and yeap, she told me lots of interesting stories about how wild dorm life at that uni can get. Brooze. Drugs. Sex. Sex. Just like your typical stereotype of uni dorm lifestyle as shown in films and shows. I guess the fact that she’s also having a LDR connects us both since we have a similar topic to talk about now  :)  Gfs of LDR unite! More dates, more dates.. before I leave, babe!

ps: She has a hot korean bf lol.

As part of providing a vibrant and informative university lifestyle for students, UB has many workshops and talks in stall for us to either adjust to college life or prepare graduating students to the ‘real working world’. Went for the volunteer workshop but it wasn’t exactly useful considering the fact that most volunteer positions either need people to commit to a longer period of time (i only have 7 wks left) or have their own form of transportation. See 1 that says “LDR while apart?” … haha*  Im sure that I don’t need that but might just drop by to see what the lecturers have to say about this topic LOL.

Saturday

A historical walking tour down Allentown – which kinda remains me of Greenwich Village in NYC. A little bohemian, the facades and aesthetics of the buildings and decors reflect a strong sense of historical and artisitic value. In addition, Allentown is also known for embracing the gay culture and thus, don’t be surprised when u do walk into a gay bar in future! :)

Getting ready and all hyped up about this walking trip!

Some of the beautifully-designed houses/churches.

Perhaps, the most uniquely of them all.

See the “flowers” decor in the middle? It’s said that the owners painted that in mind to keep themselves happy and be reminded of “spring” when winter comes and everything becomes dark and gloomy.

This enormous house below is currently on sale for $350,000 USD (about $525,000 sgd). Think about it – half a million can probably only get you an executive HDB flat back in Sg but here … No, instead you get a huge house with a garden and a view to boot.

The oldest tree in Allentown

This is the exact spot of land where the famous author Mark Twain ( Great American Novel and The Adventures of Tom Sawyer) used to live at when he was a resident here from 1869-1871. Unfortunately, the house had to be demolished to make way for *surprise, surprise!* a parking lot.  :( ‘   Where’s the spirit of preserving 1’s culture and history? According to the Buffalo Erie County Library, “His time here was significant and worthy of recognition as it shaped him as a writer and as a person. His time in Buffalo was the longest period that Twain had lived in one place since early childhood and the city was a place of firsts for him. Buffalo was the first place he lived as a married man, the birthplace of his first child, the first place he owned a home and the first place that he became co-owner of a newspaper.”  Definitely something commerable to mention about.

Works of art and creativity as showcased by residents of Allentown. Fancy living in pretty pink/purple house? Anyone?

Mr “Make someone smile” who blows bubbles out of his apartment window everyday, in an effort to make Allentown a chirpier place for everyone to live in.

Nickel City Co-op
Now, what does living life at a Coop means? Basically, it revolves around the term “cooperative living” whereby you and many others (in this case, 14 people living under the same roof) build a strong community together and live. The belief is that the community should be collectivistic and hence, all landlords (each individual is a landlord) communicate, listen and reach a mutual consensus on decisions together. “See the power of cooperation.”  In a way, it mirrors the life of hostel living where all has a shared responsbility of keeping the bathroom/kitchen clean and making life more enjoyable as a unit.

“Wilcox Mansion” – Theodore Roosevelt Inaugural Site
The house where the then Vice-President of the United States – Theodore Roosevelt – was sworn in as the 26th President when former President, William McKinley was assassinated (right here at Buffalo, NY).

New international friends from China – Xiao Xiong, Wen and Virginia  :)

A final group shot before we said our farewells !!

.UB vs Western Michigan Football Game.
3.30pm, UB Stadium

It’s a MUST to catch a football game LIVE and so, we did … being proud to be able to support UB. Frankly, Cherlynn and I were so animated at the 4th quarter of the game … screaming our heads off, shouting whenever either side got close to scoring …  so ‘crazy’ to the extent the gentleman behind us commented that we were more entertaining than the game itself lol. Unfortunately, UB lost 28-34 … which was quite a disappointment considering that they were leading 21-3 at 1 point of time!

What’s a football match without any cheerleaders right? :p   GO BUFFALO, GO UB!

Huge screen. My fav. part of it all? When they display “Kiss Cam” – an in-game entertainment during break- and broadcast couples making out in the stadium itself. It’s hilarious to see couples who will stare at the screen and start kissing each other when they see themselves LIVE on camera!

Dangers of kiss-cam, take a look at the video in the link below.
http://www.fanhouse.com/2007/03/22/the-dangers-of-the-kiss-cam/

Thanks to the great company of both Cherlynn & Anita !  :)

Sunday

Went for the morning brunch activity “Boys can COOK … Girls can EAT!” as organised for our floor by our RA, Ali. But for the most part of the day, I was sleeping the entire time :(    trying to recover from my flu. Isn’t it terrible to fall ill? Such a dampen to an otherwise lazy, fine Sunday!
.
.
My boy wants me to give a shoutout to him so … :p
